Training Recap October 31-November 6

The weeks are flying by, I can’t believe it’s November! I also can’t believe it has already been a month since the marathon! I hope the weeks continue to fly by and it will be spring…Eugene Marathon time. If you can’t tell, I am super amped about running right now. It probably has to do with the fact that I watched the NYC Marathon yesterday morning for 3 hours. I feel like I’m riding the high from a marathon I didn’t even run. Though, I definitely plan to one day, maybe even next year, if I’m lucky. My week went like this:

Monday: OFF

Tuesday: 45 minutes “easy”. I have been using my runs as a means of commuting home from work and making the route work to suit the prescribed amount of time for that day. Since I start at 6:30am there isn’t the option to run before work, so after it is!

Wednesday: Group workout at Pacific Institute of Sport Excellence: we did our warm-up on the trails and then did a track workout. It was 3 sets of 3 x 400m at 8-10km pace. I love track workouts and we made it a little competitive in the end, can’t wait for the next one!

Thursday: 30 minutes easy, another commute run.

Friday: OFF.

Saturday: Group work-out on Lochside trail, we did a fartlek workout 6-5-4-3-2-1, we are supposed to make sure our RPE (rate of perceived effort doesn’t exceed a 6/10 right now). This is a fun workout because the time decreases after each rep!

Sunday: 75 minutes “easy”, I went out to Dallas Rd, the final few km’s of the Victoria marathon course, hadn’t been there since race day. It is a beautiful route!

I also did 3 NTC core workouts: core crunch 2.0, ab burner 2.0, and core strength.

This was the last week of the 22 push-up challenge and I did 132 push-ups since Saturday was the last day!

Total Weekly Mileage: 48.85km

*Next week will be a super different and challenging week of training for me due to an exciting opportunity to attend a training camp that arose. More details to come later this week.
